HAGSTONE ENTRIES DUE! (Today & mid-Nov)

I’m going to be sending all yall followers of this blog obnoxious reminders in your ask boxes today. Just a warning!

Entries are officially due today, but I know our selection committee won’t be meeting for another few weeks due to various busy things, so you need until mid-November to finish something, that is a-ok by us.

Another reminder to just send us a relevant blog post, if you’re a busy bee and aren’t sure what to write. And hey, what’s a better way to spend Samhain (if you’re in the Northern hemisphere) than to reflect on and write about your practice?

Hope to hear from you soon!

Hagstone Journal (a new magic/occult zine) wants to hear from you! Deadline Oct 31!

We are interested in both deeply personal pieces about one’s own magical practice, as well as more scholarly essays which rely heavily on theory. And if your work falls somewhere in between – that’s okay too! All voices have a place in Hagstone.

Magic is a broad subject. It occurs across cultures and times in thousands of different forms. Hagstone has, at its core, a wish to celebrate and acknowledge all paths and traditions. Whether you’re a Luciferian, Hermeticist, Wiccan, Celtic Reconstructionist, a Spiritualist medium, we want to hear from you.

We especially welcome submissions  concerning non-European forms of witchcraft, magic, and energy work, which may use a different name. We are not currently accepting visual works, poetry, or fiction.

Here’s a list of topics we find to be super interesting. We’d love to hear your take on anything listed below. However, this list is far from exhaustive! If it’s not listed, we’d still likely love to hear about it. What would you like to see? If you can help make this list better and more inclusive, don’t hesitate to email us at HagstoneJournal@gmail.com or send us an ask.

Hey everyone! This is just another good ol’ friendly reminder to think about your submission to Hagstone, if you’re planning on gracing us with your awesomeness! Something to remember is that this is for you, it’s for us - it’s for the magical community at large. I don’t want this to be just my voice. I want to hear all of yours. I want to hear from Luciferians, Satanists, Wiccans, Gnostic Christians, Heathens, Asatruar, Kemetics, Thelemites, Sabbatic Crafters - and everyone in between! There is no publication that I am aware of in which the voices of disparate magical practitioners are voiced, and I’d love to change that with your help!

If anyone has any suggestions, or if anyone wants to help, let me know. Or you can reblog this post - spread the word, and let us know what you want to write on!

The attached photos are of my Witchvox posting for Hagstone, and here’s the Facebook group - we’re slowly growing! Please ‘like’ us, if you’re on that site! Someone I presented with at the Canadian National Pagan Conference back in May has allowed Hagstone to publish some of or all of her paper - which was fantastic, and which I am very much looking to sharing with all of you!

Help me keep the ball rolling! Spread the word! And hey, what’re ya writin’ about?

xoxo

Official Call For Submissions: Hagstone Journal of Occult Arts

“Any occultist who claims to have secrets is a fake. All wisdom is an open book to those who would read it.”

Letter from Robert Cochrane to Joe Wilson, 1966

Hagstone is critical, contemporary, alive.

Hagstone is magic without bullshit.

For more information about Hagstone and our ethos, please read our About page.

Hagstone Journal of Occult Arts welcomes submissions from all practitioners of magic and witchcraft for our inaugural issue. The theme for this volume is ‘Beginning,’ to mark our entrance into the world. The theme is not meant to be stifling, but freeing – please feel free to interpret the word in any way you wish.

We are interested in both deeply personal pieces about one’s own magical practice, as well as more scholarly essays which rely heavily on theory. And if your work falls somewhere in between – that’s okay too! All voices have a place in Hagstone. Please note that below where the word ‘witchcraft’ is used, ‘magic’ can easily replace it. We welcome submissions from non-European forms of witchcraft, magic, and energy work, which may use a different name. We are not currently submitting visual works, poetry, or fiction.
